Waiting for Something to Happen
On Valentine’s day, Mismar walked around his neighborhood and distributed bottle rockets, handing them to passers-by and leaving them on parked cars. An attached note asked them to fire the bottle rocket if they have sex that night.
Later, from the deck of his apartment, overlooking that part of the city, he sat and watched.
The work conjures news videos of cities under attack, with the trope of a totalizing view and an anxious wait for another hit/spectacle.
